The official website for the live-action film of Tatsuki Fujimoto's "Look Back" one-shot manga unveiled a new trailer on Wednesday, announcing additional cast members and a September 11 release date in Japan. Masaki Suda, Kankurō Kudō, Kayo Noro, Ryō Ikeda, Miyu Sasaki, Maho Yamada, and others join the cast. GKIDS will distribute the film in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Ireland in 2026. Directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, the film features music by Yūta Bandō and a talented crew. The anime adaptation of "Look Back" opened in Japan in June 2024, ranking #2 in ticket sales and #1 in earnings during its opening weekend. GKIDS screened the anime film in North America in October 2024, earning over $688,000 in its U.S. opening weekend. Fujimoto's one-shot manga, published in 2021, follows two girls with a passion for drawing manga, and has been well-received, with over 2.5 million views on its first day. Fujimoto is also known for his popular "Chainsaw Man" manga, which has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump and Shonen Jump+.
