Clowne and Whitwell Parish Councils have officially objected, while Barlborough Parish Council has expressed "significant concerns" about the potential impact of this project. The proposed development, spanning 19.3 hectares of currently agricultural land, aims to bring economic benefits and create jobs. However, critics argue that it might not be the right fit for the local community.
The objections highlight the incompatibility of a large-scale resort with the area's character. Great Wolf Resorts has responded by adapting the design to appear more integrated with the surroundings, but this hasn't quelled all concerns.

Great Wolf Resorts estimates that the development could bring in £1 million of additional spending to the area annually. However, Clowne Parish Council disagrees, believing the resort's "one-stop experience" nature might limit the economic benefits to the local community. O'Connell believes that many of the community's concerns have been overlooked, creating a "smokescreen" effect. They also state that recruitment will "target" the local community, with the staff accommodation serving as a contingency plan.
